The group NAZIOGINTZA is concerned with the poor performance of Basque in the Basque Parliament with a seat in Vitoria-Gasteiz, showing a 25% use rate in that parliament. We have in turn launched an initiative aiming at guaranteeing that Basque speaking MPs always use our language in their addresses. That move would involve no drawbacks, since Parliament sessions are equipped with interpreting service, so that MPs with no understanding of Basque can follow the sessions in Spanish.
NAZIOGINTZA has addressed the above parliament’s Basque speaking MPs personally, urging them to deliver their speeches only in Basque. We have likewise drawn up a document where we outline our initiative, attached below in Basque. We seek out popular support for the initiative, providing a link for the purpose.
