Abstract:
In this article, Karmelo Landa regrets the turn of the Catalan political party ERC from maintaining the unilateral path to the independence of Catalonia to promoting the bilateral path, of negotiation with the Spanish State. This latter path which is, in the opinion of the author of this article, doomed to failure.
ERC, and its well-known Basque allies, are now in no hurry to achieve independence, and prioritise the so-called “accumulation of forces,” that is, expanding their electoral base. And meanwhile they continue to support the Spanish government in Madrid, instead of destabilising it.
