Abstract:

In this article, the writer Pako Sudupe brings up Telesforo Monzon’s three main concerns on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his decease. Territoriality of the Basque Country is one of them, from the river Adour to the Ebro, making up a sole nation formed by the Western Basque Country, Navarre and the North Basque Country. Monzon worried about the fault-line dividing the Western Basque Country and Navarre. His second concern referred to the integrity of its population beyond artificial divisions between natives and aliens, objecting to it as a trap planted by the imperialists. Thirdly, he understood Basque language as a way for integration, with Basque standing for the single most important mainstay of our nation.
